APPLIES TO :   Oracle Sparc T8-2 Hardware and Solaris 11.4 

SYMPTOMS  :   No Auto installer in environment or remote installation is not feasible.

CAUSE  :   Download the Oracle Solaris 11.4 Text Installer ( SPARC USB Text Installer (1.2 GB) ) from Oracle downloads site, My Oracle Support (MOS) login is required to download the installer. Create a bootable USB drive.

SOLUTION  :   Download the Oracle Solaris 11.4 Text Installer ( SPARC USB Text Installer (1.2 GB) ) from Oracle downloads site, My Oracle Support (MOS) login is required to download the installer. Create a bootable USB drive.

1.           Download the Download the Oracle Solaris 11.4 Text Installer ( SPARC USB Text Installer (1.2 GB) )

2.           Copy the file sol-11_4-text-sparc.usb to a Solaris server.

3.           Connect the USB drive to the same Solaris Server

4.           Make sure USB drive is detected in server by checking the messages

5.           Create USB Install Image from the USB file
                      usbcopy sol-11_4-text-sparc.usb

6.           USB drive is converted as bootable drive

7.           Connect the USB drive to destination server and scan the disk from OBP
                      probe-scsi-all 

8.           Boot the server from USB
                      boot /pci@308/pci@2/usb@1/hub@1/storage@1
